another ford 4.6 motor with a craked plastic intake manifold , done the 98 crown vic ,last yr. , this yr .the 2000 Lincoln has crakt ,, this one mite be fixed with a good epoxy it is rite under the thermostat ,,. anyone have a epoxy they can recommend ? thanx jim

I wouldn't try anything, the plastic gets brittle with age and its see's a lot of cold/hot heat cycles along with pressurized cooling system. Fix a leak in one spot, have a leak in another next week. The updated manifold design uses an aluminum crossover so doing the replacement on this car is probably going to be permanent.

Just replace the intake. Dorman makes a decent priced, USA made replacement. Do it once or do it again and again, the choice is yours.

Advised my grandson not to buy a Ford, He bought one anyway, very low milage Mercury. The Plasic intake manifold cracked. Next, I didn't have to volinteer advice, he came and ask me what he should buy.

Fix it right, thats about the only thing wrong with the 4.6.they last for ever, well maybe not quite that long.

I had a few squad cars that cracked the plastic manifold. One was on a traffic stop and I thought the car was on fire. I'm pretty sure the 98 had a recall for that back in the day. My regular car was down for a week while they replaced it. The police versions on the P71 went to aluminum.
