Sad storm loss

Heard this on the news today , we had a strong storm overnight. Fulton County, Rochester, Indiana lost an old, large round barn to the storm. It was full of antiques, waggons ,farm equipment, just all kinds of things non replaceable. I was in this barn this June while at their tractor show, just incredible.

Awesome they'll rebuild and salvage what they can. Can't win with the weather, I watched our larger of 2 old barns, a large one, heavy winds lifted up the roof and collapsed it, sad to see something like that happen, sometimes mother nature wins.

I love old barns, and it's really sad to see them go, whether by nature or neglect. You would think a barn that old would have experienced all the weather combinations possible, but mother nature is full of surprises. I always relax a little once my barn is full of hay - hopefully 150 tons of hay will help keep it on the ground..

A few weeks ago I drove by where my mother grew up. The very big barn there fell down last winter, no doubt due to snow load. my grandfather had added onto it after he bought the place, and he had kept it in excellent repair. I had stopped and looked in the open door a year or two ago and I could see that it didn't have long.
