Nice Visit Today

JD Seller brought his dyno down this afternoon and we hooked it up to the MH44 EFI. It sure is a lot easier setting fuel and ignition tables versus going up and down hills in different gears with laptop while driving. It is always nice getting a visit from him.

We cranked it right up to 44HP, it was 90 plus today, so going to extreme test it when it is cooler.

I have some homework to do on settings, the timing was not advanced enough, fuel ratios looked good

I got the table corrections made tonight, will load tomorrow and see how that goes. I reset the warmup curves and cranked in quite a bit. I have about 18 at idle, so will see if it flutters with that. I made a mistake yesterday and cranked fuel pressure up before resetting the warmup curves, I set the pressure back to what it should be and now the warmup is too lean. The fuel pressure regulator adjusts to intake manifold pressure so there is always a constant differential pressure across the injectors, so it should be set with engine off to 44 PSIG. Big lesson learned, set fuel pressure, do not mess with it again, then set tables.

I cranked in more timing, it was neat, you could see the RPM pick up as advance was added.

Are you loading it to 540 PTO-1350 engine speed, or do you have the 540 at 1500 transmission? Last 44 I checked had M&W pistons and the 540 PTO at 1500 engine speed transmission, the faster speed really helped, it was 60 on the dyno.

All 44s with four cyl engines were factory stock 540@1350 full load speed. The 44-6, 30, and 33 were 540@1500 full load speed. The one I checked had the rear end replaced with a 33 assembly, that's why it pulled better than a neighbor's 44 with the same engine parts set up.
