remote valves

3020 jd tractor, I connected a loader valve to one of the hyd remotes on the back, the loader works fine, but the tractor has a constant load on the hydraulics, where can I tap into a pressure source that would do better?

Not that plumbing the loader valve into a pair of remotes and tying one of the SCV levers back is the BEST way to accomplish what you are doing, it has been done often and should NOT be causing the tractor's main pump to go "in stroke" all the time.

You have one of two issues... either the loader valve is set up for "open center" (LIKELY), or the SCV you are sourcing oil from has an internal problem (POSSIBLE).

Surf on lower down on the main page to the DEERE-specific Forum.

You'll get lots of advice on how to verify if you have the correct loader valve (or correct changeover "plug" in the valve for closed center) and have to plumb directly into the high pressure source and return the oil to the filtered main pump charge circuit.

The LAST thing you want to do on a closed center DEERE is to return the oil to the "reservoir", that's why you need help from DEERE-familiar folks.

If your 3020 serial number is below 123,000 you can attach FEL valve similar to these photos.

I agree with Bob that you need to check your FEL valve to determine if it's closed center. With open return hose aimed in tractor hyd filler hole, pressure hose attached to tractor with engine operating with both spool valves in neutral ""no oil should exit return hose".

(quoted from post at 23:21:10 07/24/15) NO!

NOT on a closed-center John Deere!

Boy, I flubbed that one! FORGOT  about JD being that way - glad you caught that while he's still got some hair left!

THANKS for correcting me! :)

Good advice...........I'll try and keep my mouth shut when it comes to JD from now on!

Yep, we all "shoot from the hip" around here from time to time, and I do it WAY to often, but appreciate it when someone posts a legitimate correction, which may save someone from problems down the line, as time passes, and they look in the archives. BAD info there could be a not-so-good thing!

Thanks for the help, I have a "prince" valve, I pressured in and I thought returned out on other side, there is a larger plug that shows power beyond, I never taped into that one, so I need to check if its open or closed center. If its open, then what are my options? Thanks again
