I have a 1960 ford 641 tractor that I cant get it back in gear.Is there a easier way to get it back in and keep it in gear. I don't have a manual. Any help would be appreciated

If your talking you are trying to shift gears on the fly that is a BIG NO NO. You should never shift from say 1st to 2nd on the move you shift only from a dead stop

Tractors are put in the gear being used when stopped. If, when operating the tractor, it jumps out of gear, there are three things that are possibly the cause (or a combo): the shift rails in the mechanism moving the gears could be rusty and or failed, allowing no hold in positioning of the shift fork/s. It could have worn teeth on the gears causing them to walk out of engagement despite the detent, and lastly, the main and pilot bearings in the trans could be failing allowing misalignment to walk the gears out of engagement. You dont 'progressive' shift a tractor like you would do a pickup. As was said, select a gear engage clutch and go.
