Fifty years ago, today, I married my high school sweetheart. In this amount of time, we have been blessed with three children and eight grandchildren.
We are both in great shape and we are leaving for New York with our daughter and her husband, Sunday. Daughter and son in law have been married 25 years.
I have to wonder--how did those fifty years go by so fast.
 
I'll tell you how they went by so fast! Nose to the grindstone, going to work everyday, picking up side jobs to make a little extra money, making do with what you had. Going to school programs and concerts. Ball games, maybe a little coaching. One day rolls into another and another and so on. And all of a sudden you and your sweetheart have toughed it out, made it thru the trials and tribulations, the sad and joyous times and you celebrate fifty years of being yoked together pulling that plow through the furrow of life. Congratulations and many more. gobble corny maybe, but we'll hit 45 later this year so I think that's where it went.

Sounds like a job very well done.

When small, I well remember my Father (45 when I was born) telling me "someday you will look back and say 'where did the time go'." I do that often these days.

My parents were married 55 years when dad died. Like most farmers didn't have much. But they had each other and raised 7 good kids.Good marriage and fine kids is all that matters. Have a nice trip.
 
It aint easy but it is easy!! Congrats and many more..Mrs. Underage and I are almost to 60, and it was and it wasn't easy but it has been a great ride and I bet yours has been too.
 

Congratulations! I think that it is common these days at wedding receptions for the DJ to ask all married couples to stand on the dance floor. Then ask all married under five years to sit, then ten years, twenty years and so on. My wife and I were one of only two couples left at forty, out of maybe 125 guests.
