Super C only runs on full choke

I own a 1951 Super C that just got out of the barn this week for the first time this year. (Note that both the engine and carburetor has been rebuilt in the last 3 years and barely used). While doing about 30 minutes of brush hogging my Super C stalled out. It would only restart and stay running with the choke fully pulled out. If you push the choke back in, it stalls out. At the same time the air filter made a buzzing sound from this point forward.

I have not done anything yet with Super C, as I am going to tackle it tomorrow, but I was hoping for some thoughtful ideas on the matter. I have never heard a buzzing noise from the air filter before.

Any thoughts on what I should do would be appreciated. Thanks!

Buzzing sound could well be a wasp nest in the air cleaner. I would start by pulling the carb drain plug and make sure you have a good steady flow of gas for a few minutes. Catch the gas to check for water/dirt/rust. Also check that you have a good blue/white spark that jumps a1/4 inch gap or more. Weak spark will cause that also

First, try taking the gas cap off, it might not be venting. Next, take the drain plug out of the carburetor and let the gas run in a can, it should run a steady stream as big as a pencil till the gas is gone. If it doesn't flow troubleshoot back to the tank, there is probably a screen in the carburetor where the fuel line attaches, and maybe a screen in the sediment jar. I am sure you will get a lot more good advice!

Generally means you're getting either too much air - or too little gas through the carb.

Too much air is tough to do - unless the carb's loose - so that's unlikely.

That leaves not enough gas - which means something's plugged in the carb.

Because it's getting enough gas with it choked, you know the supply line is capable of supplying enough gas TO the carb - so don't worry too much about blockage in the tank or line.

I would just yank the carb and clean it out good. But I'd be more comfortable doing that with a new gasket set on hand, in case something rips (which will ALWAYS happen if you don't have replacements!)
