Weather report and crop report

I'm in W SC. This spring was wet and had to plant garden crops between showers. Turned dry and had to use soaker hose on vegetables and corn. First planting of corn turned out ok and is in freezer. Planted some late corn which is silking now. Hay was difficult to harvest at first because of wet weather, then because of threats of wet weather which didn't occur. Finally got most hay cut and baled. Other people had similar problems. During June we got maybe an inch of rain total. July hasn't been too good either, until yeaterday I got 1/2 inch of rain. Yesterday we got an inch of rain with wind, today(Sunday) we got 9/10 with lightening. It fried a telephone in the house, guess a new one is in order.

Soybeans nearby were planted during the last of the Spring wet weather about the middle of May, and are still looking good. He did Roundup ready beans and they are almost all weed free, so far. Drove 20-30 miles away Saturday to a large flea market, saw some beans no tilled in small grain stubble which had a good stand but are maybe hand high. Some corn that wasn't planted as early as my garden corn looks pitiful. I planted corn the first week in April.

There has been almost no second growth on hay locally. Cousin was lucky in getting some rain and has had 2 cuttings of Coastal Bermuda. Afternoon rains for thnext week would suit me fine. They are forecasting 100+ temps for the middle of the week.

(quoted from post at 18:14:10 07/19/15) It has been rough over here also. But at least the corn and soybeans are looking good.

We cut some grass hay early Friday and baled Saturday afternoon with 9 rounds and 212 squares, should have been cut a month ago but it rained every other day. Last week we put up 300 squares and 8 rounds. the squares were sold out of the field. We're in east central Mo.
