Heck of a lot of dust raking hay

So I raked up some hay today. This is some that had 3 plus foot of water over it a week or two ago. As I raked I had a cloud of dust from the hay. Odd thing is that the ground is very dry also but one would think with all that water we had it would be a lot less dusty out. But we have also been having very hot days lately. Heat index today is 103 so even raking the hay was not a lot of fun due to heat

That water left mud on the grass. It will be dusty and you may find the hay will have mold after it goes through the heat/curing. I have had mature soybeans get flooded. It did not effect yield but they sure were dusty to combine and then they did not store well.

Hay is nice and dry and bales ok but sure is dusty doing it. Just spent an hour out baling and have come in the cool back off. Sure as heck is hot and humid out today so staying out for more then an hour sure takes its toll on an guy

Given my choice, I'd take harvesting it over having to eat it.

I wonder if livestock would use a toothbrush if they had one available ? lol

baled about 200 small squares yesterday about 35 miles south of old, mowed the ridge in the field and still cut in a bit in a couple of spots. On the way home with the first wagon had an idiot pass me when I was over the center line on the road getting close to the turn off. Wife had a few choice words for them.

Mike I won't tell you what stereotypical gender or age I have in mind for the driver of the car that passed you because I will get the post poofed. Jim

I have a creek bottom that got flooded when we were getting all that rain,,lincoln county mo,,,, all that grass acts like a filter for the water,,,last time it flooded and I baled it you couldn"t see the baler for all the dust. This time it got brush hogged off ,wasn"t going to run the mower conditioner thru that again.

I did notice that it seemed a whole lot harder to bale it this time. The tractor I use most of the time plays with the baler but this time it acted like it had an over load on it and was all it wanted to bale the hay. Still have the south filed to cut and bale and hope maybe we get some rain to wash the hay off before I do it
