2nd cut. alfalfa

Baled up the second cutting of alfalfa today--six wagonloads, three unloaded into the overhead mow--by hand. Quit small baling at that and round-baled the rest. Very hot today, heat index around 100, but we did have a breeze. Finished putting the loaded wagons and the round bales under roof just before a rainstorm hit. Pretty lucky! Today has just about convinced me that this my 80th year should be my last one for square baling! I WAS helped by my little brother (73!)

You young punks should have scythed the fields, stooked them and flung them onto a horse drawn wagon. Getting lazy guys ! ;^) I am looking for a pair of pictures of me and my grampa hauling hay in 'loops'. Will post when found. HPH, Bob

I'm sorry, Bob. I know that we kids have no clue how good we've got it in this day and age! Incidentally, in my youth, we were quite advanced--we had a hayloader!
