Exhaust stud sealant

I just replaced an exhaust manifold gasket on an unstyled JD A. The 2 outer stud holes look like the go into the water jacket. I put hi temp anti seize on the stud only. Do I need to put pipe dope on it instead? Will it leak as it is?

It seams that the company wouldn't produce a tractor that would leak water out that hole. The hole covered is next to an exhaust gasket that you install dry with no RTV.

Thanks,
Robert

You will need some kind of sealant on those threads. Back in the day it was white lead. EPA likely banned it years ago ? I have used some hi temp rtv on those or some of the Loctite stud sealants.

How did you end up getting the broken stud
out? Wasn't there a broken off tap or extractor
in there too?

On my 40 B one of the manifolds studs went into the water jacket and it required a copper washer under the nut on that stud to seal it up.

It does that on the early Chrysler Hemis too. Guys use copper silicon sealer.. I don't like silicon and I use Loctite pipe dope.
