2nd cutting alfalfa

Cut alfalfa today (2nd cut.) Ground is really wet. Hope it dries a lot tomorrow. Gonna be really hot on Friday

I wanted to cut some in the worst kind of way today. It's starting to go down just like the first cutting did. Perfect day today,supposed to be the same tomorrow,but rain over night tomorrow night before getting hot as the dickens. I think I'll wait and hope for more days in a row next week.

I got the last of my first down right now but it looks like it'll get washed before I can get it up. Second is coming along but still small due to such a late first. It would be ok with me if it didn't rain for three or four weeks

I did not cut mine because the forecast was as usual horrible. I have learned from rrlund to watch the weather, then cut in the rain on the last day of the rain, has worked perfectly for me now twice...

I remember in the mid 1970s our second cutting of alfalfa on 14 acres was 30 bales, the third cutting was 20 bales. Was a dry year and the first time dad had to buy hay. Milk cows have to eat. Rain is no fun either at the wrong time.
