Whats the deal with this 1086? Note front half of front end and rear axle housings.

The axle housings were changed to the tapered style about 1980 or so.

Somebody has extended the front end probably in a quest to improve the ride quality.

Looks like she's ready for axls mount dual rears and suitcase weights on the front end. She already has a lot of cast hanging on the back end, note weights both inside and outside the rear wheels. I'd bet she will really pull! (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

The radiator cap looks significantly farther back from the front than factory and the front side shield is longer than factory. Can't see any splicing seams on the frame from this picture so they either found longer frame rails somewhere or they did a really good cosmetic job of splicing in a section.

I had just looked at that tractor online and hadn't noticed it. Here a picture of a 1086 for comparison. Someone did a good deal of work to that front end. Bizarre.

There is an added plate running along the frame rails. You can see it extends past the rear of the engines and is bolted to the side of the clutch housing.

It took me a while before I could see it then I realized - the entire front of the tractor is about a foot longer than standard. The "dog legs" on the sides of the radiator are quite a bit wider than standard and the "INTERNATIONAL" panel above the engine has been lengthened. I can't quite tell where they spliced the hood panels for the longer length. Seems like a lot of work for some reason.
