I am Behind the times. Did not know 2015 was the LAST Expo

I must have been asleep when ever anyone posted about the 2015 Two Cylinder Expo being the last one. I can't say I am surprised. I went 4-5 years ago and it was showing signs of dying then. When you just have static displays, that you can't even touch, makes for a BORING show. A friend and I went on a Friday and the weather was perfect and there where fewer than 50 people there other than Two cylinder club members.

The tractors shown there where "better" then they where when new. I never saw a "STOCK" two banger have a $1500-2500 paint job. LOL Just old enamel paint without any thing else blown on over just about everything on the tractor. That was "factory".

There are too many TCC members that think their poo does not stink. That simple fact has made the entire JD collecting cool down. Then you add in the generational change and you have a bunch of tractors LOSSING value.

I would rather go to a show with a bunch of orphan, rigged up tractors that are being used not just being looked at.

While I like JD equipment I KNOW that JD riding the two banger craze as long as they did just about put the company out of business.

The NY expo has all that you are looking for. Machinery, pulling, plowing etc. The pagent of steam has all that will all the makes.

I started going to shows back in the early 90's. The shows probably peaked around 2000? But I am from Michigan, and the economy tanked about 2000 anyway.

I think the tractor hobby is experiencing the same thing that the antique cars did - the real old stuff, model T's, Model A's, were collected by guys who experienced them in their youth. Those guys are gone, and prices fell also. There aren't a lot of folks left who grew up with a 2 cylinder as the main tractor on the family farm. And then there are a lot fewer family farms left...

Went to MT Pleasant old threshers last year was pleased to see it had not declined since I had been there 20 years ago. Will be attending again this year.

I visit a few old tractor shows, they tend to be generic, all inclusive. pioneer Power by Le Suer MN is awesome, and one up north of here in central Mn I hear is also awesome.

Went to a Red Power when it was near, I didn't realize the deal, that was kinda cool.

I'd have to think a Ford only show would end up kinda dull. And I'm a Ford tractor fan. But, how many N tractors could a person look at? Oh look a Jubilee. And - more Ns...... ;)

It sounds like we enjoy seeing the same kinds of machines at shows. I often pass by the over-restored trailer queens that don't have a single scratch on the drawbar and spend most of my time at shows checking out the machines that obviously get used now and then. Better yet is seeing them being used in the field for demonstrations. I don't believe the Expo would be my kind of show - wouldn't be much there for me to get excited about.

$2500 paint job?
I go to a couple of small local shows here every year. There is a group of JD owners that show up at both shows. They have a big tent - like a party tent without sides that they park a few 2 cylinder tractors under. The paint jobs on those had to cost 2 or 3 times that much.
I was under the tent and watched a lady, not paying attention, back into a guy.
He took a step back and bumped into the rear tire of a better than perfect 830?Diesel.
I was surprised to see the owner come over and look to see if they had scuffed the armour all.
So I got the heck out of there and went to admire some MMs, Cockshutts, ACs, and Ollies, some of which actually had mud and (gasp) manure on the tires.

I have to agree JD. When I see a tractor with a "Do Not Touch" sign on it I will pass it right by. I understand the amount of money to make it perfect, but it is a tractor we are talking about. It needs to be able to get a little dirty.

Too many Correct Police that have read a couple of Green Magazines that assume they know everything coming over to each tractor and explaining to it's owner what all is not factory on the tractor. People get tired of it. Some of the JD people are their own worst enemies.

I don't know. Look at most shows. A Farmall H! Another H oh another H and another and another and another. Oh LOOK! A JD B and another and another and another. Just how many of any color tractor can someone look at when at the big shows like the one in Rollag MN when there may be 50 Farmall Hs there? All lined up together? Last tractor show I attended I only stop to look at the oddball stuff. Everything else I've seen many times over.

Gotta agree. I know a guy with a better than new H. He had it painted about 15 years ago and had 5K just in the paint job. So JDseller is behind the time  ! That H sets in a heated building under a tarp. The owner drove that tractor home new when is dad bought it. He was 12 at the time.

The Show at Rollag MN is cool. Not only do they have working tractors they have the "heavy metal play ground" with old construction equipment operating to include a couple of working steam shovels.
