I am in need of a rear roller axle for a 48" Cub Cadet (MTD) mower deck, part # 711-1425. New OEM or aftermarket, or slightly used (not worn out) is acceptable.

OEM part from Cub Cadet is back ordered 'til end of August, and SWMBO is not happy! E-mail me at d n seager at my fair point dot net delete spaces

Thanks much, Dave

Make one from a nice round wood.(even broken wood bats cut to length. A simple rod through the middle with bearings, and mow away. Jim

Shetland I am not familiar with 48" but my 42" axle is just 1/2" round stock with cotter pin holes on each end. Is it the axle or the wooden roll. Or am I way of base.

What I should say is I have the stock and can make you one if it is 1/2" just give me a length and distance between cotter pin holes. we are only about 20 min. apart.

I have a simplicity that has these rollers & they are on ebay.

Last year I hit a small stump and bent the rear roller axle on my Cub Cadet's 54" mower. This part is simply a solid steel rod with holes drilled for pins that retain the rollers. Dealer wanted $80 for a replacement axle. Took bent axle to local machine shop, they cut a piece of round stock and drilled the holes. Charged me $40.

Thanks Gary, that's plan B! Unfortunately, I threw the old shaft away, so I'll have to figure out where to drill the holes! Definitely doable though! at 15:10:18 07/13/15)

Flembo,
This is where I'm at, as we speak!
Gary is a member on another forum, and that was his suggestion also.
Let me do some measuring and get back to you.
Thanks so much, Dave

Looking at parts tree .com the whole roller assembly is ridiculously expensive. That's mtd's way of soaking people for replacement parts. My old IH Cub Cadet 782 50" mower has a heavy single center roller and mows just fine. With that $17 roller, go to Home Depot and get some $5 L brackets and drill a few holes. Problem solved.
