The 730 and I taking a break by the beach!

Well today I rode the Case 730 near 30 miles to get to the farm where I was a boy. My great grand father bought this far in 1903 . And it was sold in 2010 to settle my fathers estate. The folks that purchased the farm built a real nice home where I used to grow hay/ corn. They have me come back each year and sell me the standing hay. My dad had about 36 summer cabins he built along the lake in the 1930'.s. They where old and tired , the new owners tore them all down exept two. Did a real nice clean up, and keep all the. Grass cut. I had been cutting for over four hours , and thought a rest by the lake would be nice, went down and felt the water. Almost dropped my bibs and jumped in.Never got to enjoy the beach much as a kid, there where always paying customers for the cabins , and we had hay to do, and cows to milk. Well that part hasn't changed much, I had better get back to work before the old Case thinks we have retired. Bruce

That is an interesting 730 Case. I've never seen one with those little fenders. I see yours has power steering. Mine is "armstrong steering" . Especially with the dozer blade on the front.

Great pics.

Must have been torture back in the day of baling in small squares - to be putting up hay and have a lake beckoning, "Come swim... come swim!".

Reminds me of when I was a kid. The lake where everybody goes swimming around here is only a mile away. Some of us who were too young to drive a car yet used to drive tractors down there in the evening after haying all day, when the milking was done. I drove the SC Case down there one night.
I don't remember who it was drove a stem wind A John Deere one night, but somebody switched the spark plug wires on him. lol

Nice 730 Standard. Most around here if not a Rowcrop were Wheatland tractors. Do you have 3 point hitch on yours? Many of the Standards did, which is why they had the smaller clam shell fenders. Makes for a handy all around tractor for snow blower or bale fork.

If pictures are upside down , that is because I am posting with my I-phone . And yes Sweet Feet it was hard to see that lake over your shoulder hauling hay, even worse from the barn doorbell is a look from the barn

We were square baling in Indiana one time in the 70s hotter than h double sticks and after one load a fool neighborhood kid we hired jumped into the horse tank. We hosed him off to cut the smell :)

Bruce,
Is that part of Lake Erie in the background. The drive along the Canadian shore of Lake Erie is beautiful, soybeans right down to lake. The American side is wall-to-wall cabins, resorts, etc. Can't even see the lake a lot of places.

No not lake Erie . This little puddle is called Lake Scugog , and is northeast of Toronto. Where our old farm was located , was actualy on an Island , in the middle of Lake Scugog. Scugog Island is 11 miles long and maybe 3 miles wide at the widest point. The Island was connected to the mainland by a floating bridge when my Great grand father bought the farm. It now has a permanent causeway. The Island is now like you said ,almost ringed with homes. I know it will be only a matter of time this will also be developed.

OK Randy - I've been around John Deere 2 bangers all my life - tell me what a "Stem Wind A John Deere" is.

The farmer that I worked for as a kid had a campground at one of his farms, and there was a swimming pool there. And yes we loaded bales while kids were swimming right nearby. But after chores we all went back there to swim until dark.

Great pics! My friend has a case 730 comfort king, looks a little different than yours, he also has a 400, 630 and 1690. He likes case tractors too.
