cleaning tires for show

what is a good way to clean tires that are not weathered after initial washing . Stubborn dirt just seems to be imbeded in the tires. wheels have been restored so I don't want to damage the paint. I would like to get them reasonably black looking before treating them with armor all or similar product.

thanks, Keath

Keath: I found by accident that my pressure washer with a $20.00 sand injection device purchased at Northern Hydraulics made my tractor tires look like new. I was blasting the rims for repaint.
Maybe just a pressure washer would do ok.

I use the black magic tire wet after a bath in simple green. Of course I spray the entire tire, but when you wash it, they look good for the next coat.

referring to "but when you wash it , they look good for a second coat"..do you mean when you wash the black magic off for the next cleanup they look good for the next coat of black magic?

Black magic doesn't wash off completely with just soap and water. The first cleaning for the year is simple green. Then black magic tire wet. After that, car wash soap and recoat, the soap doesn't remove the film. It will look great.

who is this?? Santa Claus cleaning up his tractor at the north pole?? I thought that you had reindeer?? It's about 90 degrees here in South Dakota. With your advice Santa I'll be waiting 3 or 4 months to clean my tires and the show is next week. Thanks anyway Santa.

P.S. other than this reply I've been a good boy all year so far, anyway you asked for it!!

Can you take it to a pro car wash> Use the "tire cleaner mode" of the hi pressure hose. And about 40 quarters? LOL

believe this or not, go to wal mart , get a gallon of Super Clean, its in a blue jug,, NOT PURPLE Cleaner,, This is some of the best degreaser I have ever found, careful on paint it will take it off, I put it in a old windex spray bottle and it cleans tires very well

Millers has a black tire mix that is by far the best I've used.
It doesn't have the shiny wet look, but rather a real total black
out.....looks natural. It will last a long time.

I'll second the remarks about Miller Tire's Tractor-Tire Paint. Made my old JD M's tires look really nice. I only mow with it, and it has held up well after a few weeks' use.

I remember the tractor tires getting cleaned pretty well when mowing hay. Can you find some damp grass or a damp stubble field to drive around in?

Snow also cleans tires, but that may be hard to find before your next show.

Bleche-Wite and a scrub brush.
Started using that stuff many years ago for white letter tires.
works good without white letters too.
disclaimer......who knows nowadays....it's probably been watered down like all good chemicals.

cars of course...keep my tractor tires as muddy as I can to keep the sun off em LOL

Bleche-Wite and a scrub brush when they are dirty then Meguires Tire shine. For some reason though I never get the shine it just give a real pretty dark black look to the tire. Tried using the other cheaper tire stuff as mentioned above, and it wouldn't last very long. Meguires I only have to apply twice a year.
