There was an add on 1 of the semi-local swap n shops, looking for someone to little square bale 15 acres. I emailed the guy, to find out where he is. Turns out he is about 120 miles away, right next to the nearest Wallyworld. Long story, but I told him, if he could get it in a windrow, and give me the day when it will be ready to bale, I would come bale it for him.
Figured $250 to haul the tractor and baler, plus 45 cents per bale. Kinda thought I would price myself out of the job, but he said ok. Guess I am going to Chadron next week.

Yeah, I think I'd find out who the local sheriff is and have a talk with him before I did much traveling. But then I've done business with people all over the country and a few in Canada on faith alone and have never gotten beat yet. Anytime I've been beat, it's the locals who got me.

Yeah I got stiffed by the richest guy around once and the person that I expected to stiff me actually paid me in advance!

Another thing to consider, any field next to a Walmart will be filled with more trash than anywhere around. There is a guy that bales the field next to the local walmart. There is almost as much trash as there is grass.

I've told people a dollar a bale . That's cut , raked, bales and dumped where they want it . They said it was fair but here in my area dry hay is tough this year. Trying to get mine done first.

(quoted from post at 18:56:29 07/10/15) There is a reason a guy has to find people 120 miles away to work for him.

Uh........the guy 120 miles away answered a semi local ad which leads me to believe he, you know, the guy 120 miles away, was looking for work.

You will be in trouble if it turns out to be fifteen bales per acre. Might be a good idea to set a minimum.
