Recommend a Tractor Mechanic or Hydraulics guy in DFW

Hey, guys!

So, I've just bought a house in the Fort Worth area, and have moved all my stuff, including my International 2444 with me.

Its been a good tractor for the few months I've owned it, but she needs some work. There are at least 2-3 different hydraulic leaks around the rear end and it doesnt seem to be generating *that* much lifting pressure. Additionally, it "lowers" 3 point implements by itself, even light ones, pretty quickly. Also, I might like to have a set of remotes added for a loader I might weld up in the future, and it looks like there are provisions for these to be installed as well.

I really want to have the leaks/seals fixed, and the whole system looked over basicly.

The thing is, that I know nothing about hydraulics and I dont really have time to take this thing apart into a million little pieces and mess with it. I'd rather "farm it out" to a good hydraulics shop in the area, or a skilled tractor mechanic... Would anyone have any suggestions, or recommendations? Thanks in advance, guys

Sorry I can't help.
Just wanted to say congrats on becoming a "Home Owner"
It's both a blessing and a curse !
But mostly a blessing.
It's good to hear from You.

Congratulations on the house. As far as the tractor, I wish I was closer and I'd be glad to help you out. That being said, your a smart fellow, and from what your saying none of the issues you need repaired are that big of a deal. If you'd get yourself a shop manual, and pick one repair at the time, you'd both learn a lot about your machine, and save some money at the same time. Personally that's how I learned a lot of the stuff I know. I wasn't able to afford to get someone else to do it for me, so I learned to do it myself. Good luck.

Lanse, welcome neighbor! I live just south of you in Burleson, work in Ft Worth.

I can't recommend any tractor shops, 'cause I don't have any experience with them, being a die hard DIYer.

There were some down around Burleson, but the high taxes and old age must have done them all in, don't know of any left.

I doubt that I would have time to take on the entire job, but I could coach you through, give you a part time hand if needed. A manual would be helpful, suspect we could figure it out. Email is open, let me know...

Probably have better luck. Down south Cleburne,Glen Rose,Whitney. Was a good shop over in Cresson. Most likely gone by now.

welcome neighbor I live north of ya in Decatur.. only hydraulic shop I know of is on 199 west of lake worth heading towards springtown on the right. he does a lot of skidsteers and tractor stuff..

Hi Lance, the tractor is a bit of a hybred, from the clutch housing backwards it was made in the UK then
sent to the US to have the engine and front axle fitted. The hydraulic system can either be a standard lift, hold and lower unit with no depth control or a depth control unit known as Varitoutch. Lift a load on your 3 point arms then with the arms raised turn the knob marked close in to lock off the lift piston then if the lift stops up you have got worn seals on the lift piston. I recomed you get the I&T IH 201 workshop manual. MJ.
