I have a double gate at my farm shop. The post haved moved in about a 1/2 inch so the gates touch in the center.Probably because we have had over 13 inches of rain since june.I'm trying to find a way to anchor the the post.Menards sells those screw in anchors, but I tried one of those on a leaning utility pole and could only get it a foot in the ground with a 6 ft bar.
I was thinking of driving something down through the 6 inch post into the ground then filling it with cement. What do you guys think?

I would suggest digging a trench perpendicular to the gate about 4-5 ft. away from the post. Bury a "dead man" log (soil contact hardy), and run a guy cable/chain with a turnbuckle or other tightening mechanism, around the center of the log to the top of the post. Or, you could do the same with concrete in the trench.

Cool Hand has it right. 25 years in the fence business......that's what I would suggest! Several variations, but that is the way to go. Andy

What is the purpose of the gate? If it was closed and locked with a chain just drive around it?

You need a support post(s) to take the weight off the hinge posts when the gates are open or a swing-down leg on each gate to support the end farthest away from the hinge-post. 8)

That's how most driveway gates are.I don't lock it,no reason. It keeps people from turning around in my driveway.
