A trip to the store for band-aids

Needed more band aids today, too many projects, not enough healing time between. I was driving through Emporia Ks. and had time so I swung into a store called Blue Stem farm and fleet I think. I've been in all 48 states, been in fleet stores of all names all over the country, but nothing like this store. They had more "stuff" than any other store anywhere. It is bigger than the biggest fleet store, or even walmart I've ever seen. They had what looked like real quality stuff too. Clothing area that was bigger than fleet farm's. Several isles of shoes. More farm supplies than any 2 fleets, with animal and tractor stuff. Isles of plow and cultivator points, one isle just for tractor seats. Enough quality welding supplies to make my heart go pitter patter, I spent 20 minutes lusting over the Lincoln gas powered welder. They had nearly as much in trailer supplies as Red Neck trailer supplies. And don't forget enough trinkets to keep the ladies busy while husband buys a new mower, or vice versa. Sadly, no band aids tho, they may be the only item not for sale in that store.

Not to worry tho, Price Chopper is right next door. Surely they will have band-aids. Well, maybe not, you see I want the cloth type since they are the only kind that stick. Price Chopper does have cloth type band-aids, if you want the kind for your knuckle, or large enough to use as an eye patch.

Not to worry tho, True Value hardware is right next door. Surely THEY will have band-aids. I mean it's common knowledge that home improovements can cause bleeding. But sadly no, no band-aids at True Value.

Alas, all is not lost, the fine folks at True value, after first suggesting Blue Stem, then Price Chopper, suggest Walgreens just down the road. Surely Walgreens will have band-aids. An sure enough, there they are. However, me being the picky sort, they don't have the 1" size I like. They have both smaller and larger in the cloth type. They also have 1" in other types, but no 1" cloth type. Apparently there has been a run on 1" cloth band-aids.

I settled for the 3/4" which means some of the grinder burn from my last project is under the adhesive, but my enthusiasm for the great band-aid chase had waned, so I chose to accept defeat. At least the grinder damage is under cover again.

I've a huge tsc, and a very huge orschlen farm and home about the same distance from me. Orschlen took over the old Walmart store, you almost need your 4wheeler to get around in it. But it never fails, go in to get one thing, and we're sorry, we just sold out of that, will have it next Thursday.

I want to no , where the red string went from the bandaid packages , I no they been gone for years , it just reminds me everytime I tear a bandaid package and rip the brandaid , sound like a good place to lurk for farming needs

Jon, you should know by now that you can just cut a corner off your shirt tail, apply a little Go-Joe to it and wrap the wound with electrical tape. Electrical tape comes in designer colors also if you want to be color cordinated. HeHe

Yeah It's been a couple years since I've been to Blue Stem. It's nice and I usually end up spending a couple hours just walking around. It's far enough away that I don't get out that way to often so I consider it my version of a vacation.

I always got a charge out of the message on the bandaid...."sterility guaranteed until opened". How would you tell? No bugs crawling around inside?

Jon, I have heard excuses, er, "logical reasoning" for killing time and visiting stores of interest, but I believe that is about the best I have ever heard! If you ever decide to park the rig, you may consider writing fiction as a sideline. LOL

We can buy big boxes of J&J Band Aids at Costco and Sam's, but after some trial and errors, I prefer the Walgreen cloth bandages. I watch for their sales and stock up.

Sadly there is no fiction in this tale, not even embellishment. Just a reporting of the events as they happened. Not that I'm against colorizing a story some for entertainment value. Lol

Best way I heard someone describe a persons stories. " He never lets the truth get in the way of a good story"

jon maybe I am being a little picky here but I thought I would let you know there are actually 50 states. LOL You have two more to go to. Maybe when you go to the largest state you could bring back some good salmon.

another vote for a clean pad and electrical tape.
a tight wrap will help stop a bleeder too.

Wrapping electrical tape around a finger when doing
a job like brush painting for hours.....stops blisters too.

I am aware of those other 2 states, but you can't get there from here so they don't count.

Just keep a roll of Duct-Tape and a roll of clean soft paper towels handy. When I come in the house and the wife sees new tape somewhere on my body, she just asks what did I do now.
