Corn Field or Pond?

Up at my parents house/the farm we have had A LOT of rain. Out of the hundred or so yards of pumpkins maybe 30 feet came up. Corn is ruined. Looks like i'll disk it and plant some kind of a cover crop to help rebuild soil this year. Last picture is the area that is now under most of the water. I have never seen water lay like this before except when they closed the dam and flooded the area with about 4 feet of water.

In west central ohio it's been raining a couple times a week since the beginning of may.5 inches last week.A lot of ground won't be planted this year.

on the Stephenson co Il. Green co Wi. we have had over 13 inches of rain so far for month of June.
I am finally mowing 1st crop hay and is going better than i thought.

I am in the same boat as you here in Northeast PA. My pumpkins are gone. We had 3.5 inches of rain this past week and another 2 inches predicted for this weekend. The high temp for Saturday and Sunday is supposed to be 62 degrees.

I wonder how widespread this is. What will grain prices be like this fall? Will this affect next season's cash rent or land prices? What percent of operators are in too deep?

This is a year where more hay will be made in October than in June here in s.w. Pa. Tough year for farming.

I have a lot of acres either under water or so sodden that the corn yellowed and died. Planter issues left me with only about half population in many areas...looking like a blessing at this point.

Honestly I'm not sure. We live at the western base of the Appalachian mountains so we get a good dousing of rain from the clouds trying to pass the summits. I would be confident in saying we've had over 10 inches in a week and a half. But I don't measure the rain here. Only about 70 miles SW of here. I work there and we scientifically measure the rain. We were running about 3/4 o an inch a day there for a week.
