I'd like to request that some kind of reference as to the poster's general location be included in their 'signature'. It just helps in forming a 'mental picture' of the setting relative to the contents of the post. Just a request - you can accept or not. Thanks. :)

It would be nice if it could be posted on the left side along with our name when we post something, but I sure don't have any idea how to do it, maybe Kim would chime in here & could possibly change it for those of us who want others to see where we're located. It sure would be nice especially when talking about weather and storms coming across the country. Just my thoughts, Keith

It was blocked for a while. i asked an admin about it a bit ago and now you can edit your location. It should be on the left in modern view next to your name and post count.

(quoted from post at 16:02:10 06/25/15) Generally speaking where are you located?

As is shown in my signature - 'Western Colorado' or to be less general 'N of Montrose, CO' 8)

If you goto "modern view" and then to "profile" some info is there. I would add more on my profile if I knew how. Kim help?

When you hit profile, you should have areas that you can fill in, such as location, occupation, etc.

So, you would like 'expectation of privacy' removed. If you NEED to know where a person is, you could ask. If the info is not in the Posters 'profile', there may be a reason. Just sayin'.

Yes I thought that would be a good idea too, my
Handel JayinNY. Pretty simple, but I don't have to
give out my town, zip code or street address?

I have said that for years. People post things all the time that are region specific...tractor prices, field conditions, harvest timing, etc, but give not the slightest clue as to where they might be located. I don't think I should have to research their profile to get it either. Just my take on it. Some folks are excessively afraid of being "looked up" by forum members. It has happened to me more than once. Always a very positive experience. No one drops in unannounced. No psychotic e-mails or phone calls. Just once a very elderly and very bored man called me and would not get off the phone...so no more phone numbers in the classifeds I post. I hate to bring this up but...there is no location reference in your handle.

Back before the modern view it used to be on that left side in the area with the Ip address but was removed as being thought it was not proper. The same way you were not supposed to use your actuall name so that is why my middle name became my handle and this was before name regristration. I have been on here since I think 97 or a year after the site was started. And I have posted my location many a time. If you start to remember posters names you will generaly remember where they are from.

Exactly; Your handle, aka: username, satisfies ME :)

That is just the way it used to be but not any more and I wish it still was. Am always on classic.
