Actually, STS41D was not a computer problem, it was a problem with the fire extinguishers on the launch pad. The sensors malfunctioned indicating a fire on the pad, which caused the onboard computers of Discovery to shut down the engine fire program. The astronauts were even sprayed with water at the bottom of the platform, due to these same bad sensors.
