Ok so O have a friend who has this 4X4 Ford ranger truck. It sages badly on the left side. I got up under it today and found the front drivers side spring mount rusted away and the spring is riding up on the bed. Not a good thing since this is right now her only way to get around. So any idea where a guy can find one?? I would hate o have to fab up one but guess if I have to I will.
Thanks

I bought a pair of them for the 2002 Explorer Sport Trac at the auto parts store last year. Only mistake I made putting it in was that I ruined a rubber part that I thought came with the new ones and didn't.

I checked at the local O'Reilly's and the guy could not find one but I will talk to the manger tomorrow he will know if they can get them for sure

If its anything like my 95 ranger, the left front rear spring mount is the worst one to change. Its close to the gas tank and the rivets are inside the frame that the gas tank clears by only 1/2 inch. On top of that, the long bolt is usually rusted onto the metal sleeve thats made into the rubber. I learned some new swear words when I did mine.Use lots of Blaster lube .Good Luck. Mal

Try carparts.com, that is where I found the rear ones for my '91 Ranger 4x4.
They were very reasonable I thought.

Should be able to find those given how common that happens. I've had a few of these trucks and my friends dad had them for years. The hanger seems to collect water and with salt on the roads, its a common problem, Seems you could fab something for a hanger just the same.

State Spring Service. Lansing, MI. They have been able to get me anything I've ever needed for spring/suspension for light duty and heavy trucks as well. I got the exact part you need for my '89 4WD Ranger that I used to have

Order yourself and LMC Truck catalog for your truck.

If you can't find what your'e looking for in there, you're pretty much stuck with junk yards.

But most likely you'll find just what you need.

Their catalog IS on line too - but I find the paper version much easier to navigate.

Great prices too - great service.

i got mine from stengal bros in pa. rears went bad first, then fronts. pull the bed-it makes the job so much easier, yes the front drivers side mount is the worst, you'll have to pull the box or drop the tank. i also replaced all the rubber spring bushings, as i pretty much toasted them getting it apart with the torch. you can use a air chiesel and punch. (and i did for the l.f., since the gas tank is right behind it. its a pretty common ford problem, full-size and broncos will do the same thing, but the rangers seem to be worse about it.

Ya I figure I will have to pull the bed off, need new bolts to hold it down any how. Then the fun of grinding the rivets off and then installing the new hanger. And ye the gas tank will be likely to be right in the way.

Napa may have them... If not Ford probably will or can get them. That's a miserable one to change too. Bolted right through the cross member and that's probably something like swiss cheese now too... and the gas tank right there.

Old Rock Auto has them listed from Dorman for $26 each. Part number #722-011, this also includes the bolts to replace the frame rivets with. There is also a Husky Spring part number that Rock Auto has plus others. It is # FRFH it is a little higher at $34 each.

Probably need a filler neck for the gas tank too, darned things dry up and crack. Once the box is off, the tanks were not too hard to remove. I used my 850 tractor and a pair of straps to rig the box, hoist it out of the way. You have an overhead lift in your shop don't you? It's pretty light actually. Tank straps and hardware could be like the spring holder though. I had the tank out of my '94 2 years ago, fuel pump and tank clean out, sat a long time prior. Mess from the old fuel pump disintegrated rubber parts was like some really nasty asphaltic type sludge that was hard to cut with solvent. Did put anti-seize on everything when it was put it back together, luckily this one did not see a lot of winter weather, spring holders are good on it.

When the fuel pump went out of the boys Toyota pickup we just unbolted the bed and he grabbed one side of it an I grabbed the other side and off it went. They are not really all that heavy

Just did them on my 96. To make the job easy, take the bed off the truck. I did mine that way, fixed a lot of other things too. Had 2 friends with same problem, told them to pull the bed--agreed lots easier. You have to unhook some wiring to lights, mudflaps and fuel fill. Bed is light 2 guys can lift it. I was alone so I cut 2 2x4 to span the bed and put 4 slings to the forks and lifted it using forklift. Tip #2 drill into the rivet head to about the depth of the near side of the frame. Max dia is 7/16. Take a punch, knock head ring off, then use 3/8 punch and 3# or more hammer and drive the rivet out. If that fails drill the rest. Tip #3 Do not buy bolts with a kit if they are 12 mm. Loose in the hole. 7/16 work better, get length so there is about 1/2 in of unthreaded bolt to fit in hole. Use lock washers. Getting the bolt out of the spring eye or shackle can be a nightmare. Two types of spring bushings could be used. LMC doesn't list the 2 piece rubber for ranger but they are shown for Explorer, use that part. Of course, the reality is the truck maybe just too far gone to make it worth while. Local parts yards got lots of them. More ?? try emil me.
