Anyone break a rear spring on a GMC?

I noticed my left rear was down, like I had a flat. Parked truck on level concrete and measured the left side a good inch lower. Going to pay the spring place in town a visit Monday morning. Truck is a 2007 GMC 1500 and only has two leaf springs. I betting the longer one is broken. What else could cause sagging when truck is empty, this just suddenly happened?

I have a friend that had a mid-90's extended cab, full bed F-150 that he really used. The one that finally took its toll, not on the springs themselves, but the mounts was the second pallet of paving bricks that measured something like 36x36x36 as I recall. I've seen broken springs, but in his case it were the frame mounts for the springs that just said...adios amigos.

I broke a main leaf on my 89 CMC heavy half 15 years ago.
It broke just before the axle.
I put a U bolt around the 6 leaf pack just ahead of the axle and clamped the whole shebang together.
It is still sitting like that today.

I usually break at least one spring per year in my Ranger... it breaks the main ply just ahead of the axle... so look at it closely. Be aware that if the main ply is broken ahead of the axle.. then the axle can float around so driving it may not be advisable.

Be sure to check the front springs too, cars are really bad about breaking on one end and the lean shows up on the other end.

I've got a 1974 Chev flatbed 1-ton that has a lean to it.

I confess that I abused that good pickup. I was hauling 7,000 pounds of steel back to my welding shop from an auction... Didn't want to make two trips.

I'm looking for the "slapping my forehead" emoticon.

When I get our new shop built I plan on tearing into her as lovingly as I do my old tractors.

I have broken a leaf on pretty near every truck I have ever owned. I would make that to be about fourteen. it is just maintenance.

Spring shop is taking the front spring apart on Wednesday. They said the same thing. Left front spring goes down, right rear goes up. Both Rear springs are fine.
