Removing rust with molassas

Here is a picture of a fender I soaked in molasses for a couple weeks. Very heavy rust will take a little longer. If you are not in a hurry it really works. Use a mixture of 1 part molasses, and 8 parts water. What you see is bare metal. It needs to be top coated with primer, as it will start to rust almost immediately. I use a 55 gal barrel, but it is better to have a tank where the whole item can be submerged. Not toxic at all, and very inexpensive. I bought 5 gal for around 22 dollars. Stan

Our homemade sorghum syrup will do that also, but the folks I give it to would have me drawn and quartered if they found out.
