About WWII a fellow took a pair of shoes to the cobbler to be fixed. The cobbler said I am real busy so will be about two weeks. The fellow got drafted for the war, went through it got out got married and so on. Years later he was passing though the town or back to where he had lived and stopped to see the cobbler. The cobbler was still alive now 80-90 years old. He said gee I been real busy since I last saw you. Still have your shoes will be another 2 weeks!!! ANY ONE HEARD THIS OR ONE LIKE IT????

sounds like centennial lube a small engine shop in town left my saw there for 2 years checked in about once every six months they never did work on it so i took it home

Years ago I took my Farmall 560 diesel into a shop to have the engine rebuilt. A hundred and fifty nine days later I finally got it back.

about 10-15 years ago i took a 60" projection tv to a neighbor "tv tech man" about 2 miles away. he was about 75 yrs old at that time, had some medical issues here and there, slipped and ran his hand into wood chipper, some cancer i think. he was looking for a used part for my tv. i finally told him id sell him the tv for $300 as i could see the flat skreens were coming out. meantime i bought the neighbors projection tv and had it fixed 2x by someone else and am on my second flat screen tv. haventheard from or seen the guy 6-8 years. i see he is fixing flat screens now from an add in the paper. i was amaized how he kept up with technology, he told me he was in airforce and when he got out he would pick up old tvs on the curb in town.First tvs were round and when the square ones came out hed pick up the round ones on the curb, then color tvs, console etc. im gonna let him keep my tv now!

The bonehead I took my old truck to had it 4 years. Rebuilt engine, did bodywork and painted cab and went through transmission.. I had sandblasted and painted frame and wheels installed tires did the brakes(had to re-rebuild master and wheel cylinders he had it so long) and I built and painted the flatbed, I also had many of the new parts before I took it to him. I had to stay away after a while or I would have lost it and gone to jail. It cost more then it should(he holds your antique vehicle hostage)and he is a talented craftsmen but a lousy businessman.

I've learned never say "when you have down time" to anyone. If I take the combine in for a priority in January I still tell them I need its ASAP. It's worth the money. The "around to it" discount costs years.

In October I had a friend of a friend weld up my Husqvarna 54 inch mower deck. He did a wonderful job. I had four ground skids from a Gravely five foot sickle bar mower, They need to be welded to beef them up to correct thickness and I could grind them to correct shape. In the mean time I made two supper size heavy duty skids and installed them. They work great! My friend came over yesterday the 16th and handed me the four old skids. You guessed it .....the other guy just didn't have time to fix them EIGHT months later. Go figger? hh
