Interesting, town got wiped out with EF5 a few years ago, do not know if they took shelter in the well. The water tower was over the well, tornado took it down, so not sure if I would want to be in there. They built a new concrete visitor center over the well, probably good now.

Wife and I were just east of there that afternoon and thought about going on to see the well.
Glad we did not go that way. Town was wiped off the map.

We saw that well before the tornado destroyed the town. That well was a huge accomplishment for those who dug it.

I think when they rebuilt the town they built it to be environmentally friendly.

Haven't been back to see what everything looks like. Maybe someday.
