Having alittle problem with my bf?When i start it when its cold it runs fine, but when it runs an warms up it sounds like it is starved for gas.I have put new points an new switches, plug wires, coil, sparks plugs, had the carbureator rebuilt, tried putting heat wrap around the carb an still the same thing.dont know what else to do?

Runs good cold-- sounds to me like you have an air flow problem. you rebuilt carb, so I'd look at air cleaner or mud dobbers in intake? Or try a little flamable brake cleaner of equivlent around intake manifold, you may have a air leak when hot.

Hello Jay,

It probably is starving for gas. Is the float level.correct? Check the fuel pressure and
the fuel filter. Run it without the air cleaner. Check the vacuum pressure and the
ignition timing. While you are checking the timing, check to see if you are getting any
vacuum advance. Good luck.......

Guido.

Could it be that rather than when it gets warm it is when you start to work it? The two often happen at the same time, and it could be a plugged gas screen.

An easy diagnosis of too lean is to partially choke it, see if it runs better. If so, it's too lean.

If it appears to be lean, best to catch it in the act. When it does it, be ready to quickly pull the drain
plug on the carb, catch the fuel that drains in a clean container, look for trash or water. But main thing
to check is the volume of flow. It should start as a full flow, then slow as the bowl empties, but still
have a stream, not slow to a drip. If it slows or stops, there is a restriction, or the tank is not vented,
or possibly vapor lock if the fuel line is too close to the exhaust.

If the problem does not appear to be from too lean, same thing with the spark, catch it in the act. Be
ready to check the spark when it acts up. Check it at the coil and at the plugs. Loose distributor bushings
can cause strange symptoms. The points will not stay set if the bushing is worn. Also check the voltage at
the coil, be sure it has the right coil/resistor (if equipped) combo. If the coil is wrong, it will
overheat, over amp the points, or have weak spark.

I pulled a D4 cat with it an it was really under a load an it didnt skip a beat. The air cleaner is fine, the condenser is brand new.I have took the tank off an cleaned it.The gasoline shutoff took that
off an cleaned it.When i got the tractor the guy had made a intake that had moved the carberator away from the motor an it ran fine then,I put right intake on it an i started having this problem.Basically everything i can think of that could be wrong with it i have bought new an put on it an still the same result.

What type is that "fine" air cleaner?
