I'm a slow restorer. Is there a primer that I can use and not have to reshoot or sand a year later. What about an epoxy primer?

If you do not put the top coat on within the window of time required, you will need to scuff the epoxy primer before applying the top coat

Epoxy primer usually has about an eight hour window in which to topcoat. What you could do is prime with the epoxy and then go over that within the recoat window with a filler primer such as Featherfil and you could let it sit for a year before doing anything to it. Of course if you sand to the metal you will have to spot prime with some epoxy again.
