I've got an LA engine with a Wico AH mag that I want to repaint. I'd like to remove the mag to clean it up and also make the engine easier to paint. I don't have a book for the engine and I'm wondering if the mag drives directly off of a gear or if it drives similar to a IH distributor. It starts and runs so good now, I don't want to take a chance on getting it out of time. What is the easiest way to reinstall then and get it timed right? Thanks for your help.

I removed and reinstalled the mag on my LA without any problems. I just marked the position of the mag in relation to the engine, went back together with no trouble. HTH Sam.

Just don't turn the engine or the mag.
