OT hornets in the mailbox

The previous post about bees dying got me wishing I had whatever it is killing them. The problem I have is hornets building nests in my package box, basically a large mailbox. Its not used daily and I keep keep spraying and cleaning them out, but in a few days they are back. Sooo has anyone found a long term method of discouraging them? I tried moth balls but that doesn't help. If anyone has the answer, me and my mailman would appreciate it.

I prefer starting fluid, but that only kills the existing nest what I want to do is discourage them from building another nest.

Are you talking about the "bald face hornets"? Or many a smaller red wasp or such. The hornets build a large closed in paper nest with a hole for in and out. The smaller wasps build a paper nest that is open, not closed in.

TRY 7 with a puffer ball. Takes out them big old carpenter bees and a lot of other nastys. Night time manuvers?

Yep. Leave the Door open.
Post Office had a problem long time ago, all the trucks idling at the docl were blackening up the dock walls, ugly, smoke, fumes, causing air polution, smoke, etc. Contest wsa held, meny very complicated remedies, winner's entry was "Shut off the engines."

the marina in arkansas would spray under the engine covers on the outboard motors with wd-40 to keep wasps from building nests. seemed to work good, maybe give it a try.

I heard that 'bald' or white-faced hornets kill wasps - the only time I had a nest of them around I had very few wasps (usually have a bunch) and I noticed that the hornets did not bother me or my animals. I was hoping that they were here to stay but late the next spring some birds tore the nest apart and, evidently, ate the hornet larvae 'cause that was the one and only time they've been around

today being today, I'd check local rules,
but a weak sevin mix sprayed monthly usually has them find another place.
Enclosed box? Put one of those bug foggers in there and close the lid.
Those things leave a coating on everything that they won't like.
