Larry we have a 1965 Bel-Air that has 72,000 mile on it. My grand father got it in early 1966 ad it had been a dealer loaner car so it had low miles on it.

Liked those, friends dad used to work at a chevy dealer in those years, every evening he'd have something new in the driveway, they had one of these, but with the round tail lights. Another friend has a '62 SS, ground up restoration nearing completion and I mean ground up, lot of metal work, almost ready for paint now.

There was a rare model of the impala ss '68 I believe with the 427, maybe was a '69, have a magazine from years back somewhere with an article on it, they called it Imapalasauras-rex.

1966 was the first year for the square tail lights- I think that is the "glacier blue". My buddy got a 69 Impala from his uncle in SD, Dover White over Glacier Blue, 327. That was the first in a string got Impalas the two of us owned- 69,66,70,73,74 then new models as well. When he spun a bearing on the 69 down in Tulsa at welding school, I drove my 70 down and towed him back- those two cars hitched together, same length as the standard 18 wheeler. fun weekend trip

Nice 66 , most were small block engines , but that one could be a 396 , can't really tell from the pic.

In '65 my Dad bought a '64 Impala 4-door sedan for my Mom. It was a "Dealer Demo" with less than 100 miles on it, got it for "used car" price. Nice car. They had it until 1968, when they took some friends from out-of-state out to dinner. When they came out of the restraunt the car was gone, - STOLEN ! Police found the car 3 weeks later, completely stripped & gutted. Dad was Insurance Broker so they got full value for the car.
