moles in the garden

Found mole holes outside our fenced garden, so put dirt in holes and now in the garden. We seen a mole in the garden, but no holes. Whats best bait or trap to use? Does moth balls work? They are eating garden plants.

If making tunnels visible on the ground surface, mole traps are good, as are mole poison peanuts. Plastic edging can stop them from tunneling in. Jim

I use the poison peanuts which are actually more like pellets now. I no longer wait for the moles to show up. Instead, I just sprinkle a few of those pellets in the row as I am planting sweet corn, etc.

Must be voles. Moles only eat insects and worms not plants.

You would Rarely see a mole above ground, but yes to a Vole. and they are similar. Voles are smaller and without the huge front feet.
