JD GM Front Tires

We are closing in on my dads GM. I am going to get it painted tomorrow, it was primered yesterday.

I have been looking around for tires, and over the months have come up with a set of REALLY nice 6.00 x 16 Armstrong 6 ply tri ribs for the front. They came from separate places, but look like they belong together. I figured those would be a good match, however just in the last few days, 3 guys have told me "that big of a tractor" really needs 6.50's on it?!

I do have 2 6.50's, however they don't match at all, and one is worn down to %50, maybe.

So, my question is, will 6's get the job done? It will have a round tube wide front on it, which I think is why guys are saying I should have the 6.50's on it. I would LOVE 6.50's on there, but can't afford them!!

Put the 600's on it, they will work fine, clearance will be better in the mud.
In my opinion 650 are too tight.

What everybody else said except the guys that said it needs 6.50s.

If you aren't putting a front end loader, or a front mount 4 row cultivator on it you will be fine with the 6.00s I put 6.00/16 on my '54 60 with Swartz wide front on it. I think the 60 is just as heavy as a GM.

For your tractor the 6:00-16's were the standard size. Bigger may cause some clearance problems on the front. It will also make the tractor appear "nose up" as well. Mike

Alright! Thanks for all the info guys!!! I will be putting the 6's on then.... If for some reason I don't like them, and/or they don't work right, I will come up with some 6.50's, but I think for as little as we plan on using it, 6's should be JUST fine!!!

Thanks again!!! Bryce
