Nervous Farmers? Freeze warning

Wonder how nervous the farmers are going to be. There is frost/freeze workings for tonight. Lot of corn up, but that should be ok. How will the new alfalfa do. Neighbor has some across the road that is coming up. Some soybeans are breaking through, so think they might be done for. My garden might be ok. Potatoes are up and onions also coming through the crust. Sweet corn as of yesterday hasn't broken through. Wife will have to cover her flowers tonight.

When I go up this morning, thermometer showed 31. didn't see any frost on the groud tho

Been talking to a few guys around here south of Madison SD, they are pretty worried about the beans. We held off and waited to plant ours and darn glad we did. Didn't see any frost either but might be different story tomorrow morning

A few years ago it dipped down to 28 the first part of June here 35 miles south of Spencer Iowa. I was all upset and called my seed dealer early to get my name in on replant seed corn and beans. The corn was tall enough that the growing point was above ground. He wasn't too excited and said I was the first one to call. Turned out a few of the corn and bean leaves were nipped but aside from that there was no damage. I do have 80 acres of beans that can be rowed, 90 acres planted but not up and 300 acres still in the bag. As wet as it is we won't be planting anytime soon.

The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. There is no use worrying about something you can do nothing about. Concern maybe but not worry.

I emailed around to my farm friends this morning, it was 37 at 5:30 this morning, supposed to be colder tomorrow morning, and I would say everyone is on pins and needles and ready to snap.......... Not that it would be admitted by any of them.

Nope,we seeded some in March a few years ago then got snow on it. Didn't hurt it a bit.
I just heard we were supposed to drop to 31 tomorrow night. No worry for me,but the orchard guys might have a long night.

Had a few snow flakes falling here a few hours ago. Not real worried about it. What happens happens.

The alfalfa should be ok unless it gets a hard freeze. Covered with a bit of snow would help. Here is Mid Colo we don't plant alfalfa until June 15th.

29 degrees in central ND this morning, sposed to go down to 25 tonight and tomorrow night. Canola just peeking up thru the ground, kind of worried. Wheat, oats and flax not coming up yet.
