Picked up a nail in the side wall of one of my tires yesterday. Had a used one put on, this is what I got today. Oh well, such is life.

You can't put a plug in a little nail hole? Not trying to be a smart aleck, just wondering! When our JD4600 was a couple of years old it developed a slow leak in one of the rears, (18x24) very hard to find. We finally found it with lots of time and soapy water, put a plug in it and it's been 12 years and 700 hrs, haven't added any air since.

That tire already had 7 plugs in it, didn't want to put one in the side wall tho. Probly sjould have since the replacement didn't hold up either.

Given the condition of the tire I'd say you already got the good out of it - especially with 7 plugs.

I don't think its allowed to plug a sidewall, that could be a violation if it caused a problem for others down the road.....

As well with the weather checking on it, looks like the nailed tire was about done you tried the best route by replacing it.

Rim was fine, I think you are seeing the galvanised wire from the tire. That was some thick and tough stuff too. I've never seen anything like it in a tire before, was 1/8" diameter and springy. Would have made good cattle fence.

Never could see the advantage of super singles.I hear they save weight but very few guys are that close to max much anyway. There was a co.that hauled wood chips here that ran supers and I don't know how many times through the years I've seen one setting along the road for hours waiting for the tire truck. At least you can run a dual for miles till you find service.Ron
