Called the fella this AM. Sounded on the phone like maybe his 100th b-day was well back in his rear view mirror so I held my breath because these guys...well, they ask a lot for their stuff. He was a tad high and said he was firm. A neighbor was interested. I knew where it was so decided to have a look at it anyway seeing as there was a rain threat and I didn't want to commit to planting. Pulled up and it was a pretty nice Massey Ferguson 36. Old but it looked like it never sat out a night in it's life. Great paint. Real dusty. Took some measurements and looked it over real good. Nothing wrong with it I could see. Called the fella up and asked would he fire her up. He did and asked me a lot of questions. Turns out his daughter lives about two miles from me here. More questions. He says "I tell you what. Since you have a need and are going to use it (etc, etc), I'll come down on my price." So I told him what I thought and he said that would be just fine. We talked another half hour or so about farms and cattle etc. Gave him a deposit to hold it for me and he said he would go in and change his clothes and then put it back in the barn. REALLY nice guy...could spend all day talking to him. Stopped for a chicken dinner on the way home. Nice day...many thanks for the referral!
