Yellow leaves on garden plants

I put starter fertilizer on garden before I prepared it for planting. We had a hot week, so I planted, it then turned off wet and cold. The plants took about weeks to germinate. The vegetables are coming up nicely now, but the beans are not nice and green. I am thinking it is an N deficiency from the wet.

What do you think about side dressing the plants with 10-10-10?

The fertilizer may offer some foliar change but I'm betting no change in end yield. You could add some nutrients to one row and see what happens for a test. It's not unusual for any plant regardless of legume or not to be yellow upon emergence in saturated soils. The beans have not yet had time to fixate their own N. Adding N to the party will prolong their willingness to do so. As soon as their little roots can get some oxygen they will be ready to go so long as macro and micro nutrients aren't deficient.

Any chance you added the proper innoculant to your beans? You might be more impressed than you think if you started doing so.

Get some Neptune's Harvest fish/kelp blend and either spray it on or mix it and put it on with a water can. You'll be amazed how it helps your plants especially if they are starved for trace elements.
