154 leyland ???

I can get a 154 Leyland gas burner to restore. If i change the electrical to get rid of the Duke of Darkness do these tractors have any engineering faux pas? I've used several diesel larger Leylands that were good,just don't want a moneypit here.
 
The brakes are pathetic!

And the 3 point lift arms { drop rods between the top rocker and lower links} are prone to snap in half with heavy weight implement. Easy to weld up.



They are a great little tractor to work small acreage. Were very popular in Britain with parks depts, councils & golf courses.

The original version was called the BMC Mini made by the British Motor Company, later named Nuffield. The tractor was designed by Harry Ferguson Research Company which Harry Ferguson owned after he sold the Ferguson tractor company to Massey Harris.

Leyland? I cannot say. But every other British thing I've ever owned, I've wound up asking as I shake my head "But, but, but, why would they design it like THAT???" Love many British things, and their Spitfire defeated the Luftwaffe, but you just have to shake your head .....
 
sorry late to the party on your question, but I am sure you know by now that you can get parts for this tractor from Northwoods tractor in Wisconsin, or oder parts from John Charnley and Sons out of the UK and take out the middleman.

Yessir, parts are far, far easier to get for the Brit tractors now than ever before. I'm looking at a Leyland myself. Being used to David Brown, I'm not real nervous.
