Where to find a seed dealer? SW PA

I posted about wanting to plant some cover crops. I want to go to a store and actually look things over. I'm in South Western PA. Does anyone know where there would be one near me? I have been to an Agway and I didn't see a lot of cover stuff. Any other suggestions or ways to find one near me?

Call Steve Groff or King Seeds in Lancaster county. I'm positive they'll know someone or have a dealer out there.

Kings Agriseeds has a nice website and a down-loadable catalog with a lot of good info on the subject. That's about as close as you can come to going into a store these days. Western reserve has a place in Portersville and New Wilmington, not sure what they have to offer for CC seed, but they have knowledgeable people there who can point you in the right direction depending on what you want to do. Of course those places are a fair distance from you is you are in Washington, Westmoreland, or Greene county. Spring is no really cover crop time. What do you want to do with your cover crop?

I live in Fayette as of now. But the farm is up in Westmoreland. I need to put something is so we don't have a bunch of weeds take over. I just want something to add N and help rebuild the soil.

Clover. Cheap, effective. 10-15 pounds per acre(50# is $100-150). If you plant it with a couple bushels of Oats($10-12 a bushel)it wouldn't hurt. If you wait til fall, rye($20/bu) and hairy vetch($150ish) are a good combo.

Anyone who sells seed should have these, or be able to get in a few days.

Not sure where in Fayette you are, but Growmark FS in Eighty Four, PA is a good place to go. 724-222-4303 Their in-house agronomist is Bruce Smith and you can email him [email protected] with your exact needs, but I would say that Red Clover with a bushel and a half cover of oats would be a good thing to plant. Bruce could make some recommendations of other stuff...

If you are looking for a place closer to the Blairsville area, there is a growmark fs in Kittanning.
