not just for Ultra dog,,,others may like this story too,,,,sometimes we get eggs from a Mennoite family when we are over that way.A long gravel driveway/road leads to their farm.Halfway down the road is a ballfield, To get to their farm you have to pass the ballfield.A baseball game was going on,cars parked all along side the lane. One lady in her big suv talking to another parent so,I Wait,,,long time,,,she doesnt move,,I just squeased through..We Go down to the farm for the eggs...the menonite girls have the eggs on the porch,,,put your money in the can,,,someone had picked fresh aspargus and had it for sale on the porch,,,,two lines of laundry done ,hanging on the line to dry,A little boy was in the garage,,sweeeping up.Another boy no older than 9 or 10 was helping his dad throw wooden pallets off a wagon. When I turned my truck around to leave,,,the boy was driving the big IH tractor with steel wheels,,,his dad was riding on the wagon. Now we head out the lane,,,,same lady in the suv, talking to the same person,,waited awhile,,,had to squeeze through again,,,all the kids were playing ball,,,,not all of them,,the farm kids had different sports,,,,,,

Around Jamesport, Missouri - a lot of the Amish farms have ball fields ON THEM. I guess they love baseball as much as the next guy. They have a lot of volleyball nets, too.

People are not so polite at times, consider the source LOL ! The one I dislike is when someone parks and has the lights on your window, car or home. One of the neighbors was looking for a lost dog, always seem to end up on our land, she parks at the end of our lane, and for me its the end of a long day, I'm on the front porch using the Weber BBQ grill for my long awaited dinner. She's sitting there shining those high beams on me, the house, front porch... for the love of.. could you please turn the darned lights off.... I was not happy, nor was she after as I was not so pleasant, had just been to a funeral, really not the best frame of mind... so my behavior was almost excusable LOL!

Most times, I'd be helping, or allowing them to access the land and hopefully find their dog before a hungry coyote does. Last year, one guy was doing laps in our field, for awhile, I had said take this path and have at it, best of luck, I'd help but I am really busy at the moment. I'd rather help, than be mean to someone, but if'n you shine them thar high beams on me at home or in a car while you are parked, don't be surprised when my sense of humor dissipates LOL !

Near our other place, is a farm with surrounding fields and I think the owner is a funeral parlor owner, that would provide a means for something like this in a casual manner, as they have some live stock, poultry and a big ole barn in really nice shape, reminds me of the ones we had. They have several hay fields and bale what they need for the livestock, or sell excess. On their premises and it bears their name on a sign, such and such field, its a ball field and on days like today, its a family affair, baseball or softball and how many times I have I left there, after putting in a hard days work, driving right past, thinking how nice that really is, a family get together, and softball game.

I'll bet they really look forward to it too, you have to have something like that other than farm chores all the time.

We host the family reunion every other year, and the expectation is a well-groomed baseball diamond in one hay field or another. My Grandmother was #12 of13, so when I was young, the reunion was several hundred people strong. Now we struggle to get 75, but still field two teams for softball.
