Baled Hay Today

Here in southwestern Pa we had an unusual 3 or 4 day dry hot spell of weather. I mowed a small field of knee-high orchard grass Wed afternoon and baled it today, May 9th. Oh well, one field done fifty to go.

Show off! Around here we have had a good stretch where I suppose we could have baled, but it was so cold and then it has been so dry, that for the most part the grass is barely up six inches.

A couple days ago dad chopped some marsh grass out of the water ways that I cut about 7 months ago and then we got rain, rain, and more rain... then freezing temps and snow.

I was planting corn last weekend and looked at it while filling the planter and sure enough most of it was dry, and didn't smell all that bad considering. They need bedding pretty bad this year so he got a wagon load and was happy to get it.

Things are just greening up around here, will mow the lawn for the first time this week, apple blossoms are about ready to open, leaves about half grown on the trees.
