Brush hogging video w/ mug shot

That dry stuff sure is easier to deal with, and I thought my old rig in the largest field open here, 6' wide rotary taking 4 hours was something, though I have done it late in the year, tanned up and waited until it was moist to avoid most of the chaff and dust. It sure is easier, used on gear higher and less fuel, given I did not need full rpms to cut it effectively.

If I had a mowing job like it would be like a vacation with pay for me. Most of my jobs are around trees, rocks, buildings. Almost never falt. Stan

Nice video. Thanks for sharing.

Which of your fleet of Allis tractors is that? (170, 175, 180, 185)?

Surprisingly quiet on the operators station. I could run that tractor all day no problems.

Yeah if this job wasn't a 70 mile round trip it would be a little easier on me. All it takes is one problem and I am out a half days work and more miles...fortunately no problems so far. Parts of the field are fairly smooth, but they are the dirtiest and it seems the chaff cloud likes to follow me as soon as the dew is off. Very dry here this year, could use some rain. I have those tough jobs also, mowing an apple orchard is the worst as those branches don't give a bit...then I have the rocky mountain side where I am in first gear and have to go downhill only because I can't raise the mower going uphill (front end comes up instead).
I encountered a few rocks in this field where the utilities had been trenched in years ago, and a few here and there hiding in the grass. Only hit one so far and it was a little one. Here's a big one I wasn't told about....but they aren't the ones that gitcha

This is a 175 with a newer Perkins 4.248 diesel in it. As you can see I wear a headset radio, so it is even quieter. It also muffles the sound when you hit a rock LOL!

Did the 248 come factory? Or is it something you transplanted? I noticed Nebraska tested the 236 in both the 170 and 175 in diesels when they tested.

Is the 248 better than the 236 Perkins? Was the 236 the one that had a tendency to vibrate in some Massey line?

WellI did find the answer to my one question. Appears the first year of the 175 had the 236 and all subsequent years had the 248.
