All of you in east Texas be careful.Been reported that tractors are being stolen.There has been 6 lost in Leon county. In the last three months.

A dealership in the area had a new tractor stolen off the lot at night. Poor guy had a flat tire on the trailer a few miles down the road, but a nice guy stopped to help him, but the nice guy worked at the dealership.

I had a dealer tell me two weeks ago, one that had been stolen from their lot ten years ago showed up in a parts look up. On more showed up when the son grew up and went to work for the Sheriffs office and turned Dad in, it was missing for 8 years.

About 10 years ago there was a tractor theft ring that operated between Washington and Oregon. The perps would steal a tractor in Oregon and peddle it in Washington. They would then steal one from Washington and peddle it in Oregon. Law enforcement had no idea how long this went on. The only way they got caught was when they tried to sell a tractor to a local tractor salvage yard for a price that was a little to cheap. Bet the same thing is going on with this.

when john deere 4020s were new dealer near here had a new one sitting on lot.
guy showed up after hours to load tractor well it wouldn't start battery was dead.
town cop came by and asked guy what are you doing guy said i'm to get this tractor but it won't start as battery is dead.
a few days later tractor was sold one of dealers employees went to get tractor ready for delivery of course it's gone
cop said oh i helped someone load a few nights ago

This happened back in the 50's when as a kid you knew the sound of each neighbors tractor. This guy and his dad were milking early one morning and heard the neighbors F-20 go by. They wondered where there neighbor was going so early in the morning. Two hours later the neighbor drives in and said someone stole his F-20.

Where I worked for years a pickup pulling a trailer came in to our parking lot to steal a Harley. Plant security went out to see what was going on and the thief said he was picking this Harley up for service. The plant security officer helped the thief load the Harley and off it went.
