I have a ford 800 try to hook a king kutter tiller together . The pto shaft from the cutter is 4 to 6 inch too long. I Have the saft pushed all the way together. There's no adjustments . Did the ford 800 come with 2 different lenths 3 point hitch bars ?

There was a standard length on fords I think the problem is the pto shaft is to long and will need shortened by the way I don't think the 800 has a slow enough speed to run the tiller

You have to shorten the tiller pto shaft. Nick is correct about the tractor speed. If it is a 5 speed trans it will work in most soil. A 4 speed will be too fast.

You will find that it takes different lengths off PTO shafts to run different attachments. It's not 'one size fits all'. Just buy the proper length pto shaft.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Better to long as to short! My King Kutter Tiller was to short. But is a great tool! Just saw the inside shaft off.

You will need to cut equal amounts of both the inner and outer PTO shaft to shorten the shaft.

If your 8** is a four speed it will be much too fast to operate a PTO driven tiller.

If it is a 5 speed it will be slow enough to operate it in some conditions but too fast in most conditions.

When shortening a shaft both ends must be cut the same

First off before you cut any thing etc what model do you have. The 800 is the series and the model will tell us what transmission you have., If it is say an 840 then forget the tiller it will just bounce on top of the ground. If it is the 850 or 860 it may work. The 840 has 4 speeds forward while the 850/60 have 5 speeds. As for cutting the shaft some shafts are easy to cut others you need to grind/cut/weld

Does it have live PTO which would make it the 860 or does it have the non live PTO which would make it the 850??? If you soil is nice and loose/sandy a tiller will work but if your soil is like here in Missouri it will not work well unless you plow disk then till

Have you got a 3pt tiller or bush hog?. Post title says bush hog, them you say tiller and then cutter. A bush ( brush) hog is a rotary cutting device used to mow grass, weeds, brush. A tiller is a tool for working ground into good tilth for a garden or crops. Which is it?
