Cold Spring

Gosh it's been a cold spring here in West Michigan. Planting potatoes a week later this year. I think there has been substantial frost/freeze damage to the fruit & berry crops too, especially peaches.
How has the spring weather been in your part of the country?

Temp is about average, maybe 10 deg. cooler than normal in southern IN, but wetter than normal. Should begin to see field work this week if it does not rain anymore.

planted potatoes in SC 3/4/15 and they are coming out in bloom now. they are red skins. Had one frost that turned some leaves black but they grew out of that.

We are ahead of last year, last year the ice didn't go off the lakes until May. I did find some frost in the ground in a protected spot on Saturday and I still have a couple piles of snow from plowing. We also had snow flurries 3-4 days last week, one day with snow on the ground. We never plant the home garden until memorial day here in NY. Daffodils just blooming now and the only trees blossoming are the Red Maples. Its spring?

You are correct. But more importantly, they made beer there.

Still cold here in NH. they got snow in the northern part of the state. Soil is nowhere near warm enough to plant anything.

I'd say in MN spring came real early, but then we had a real cool streak the past week.

Real dry spring; typically my limiting factor to get in the field is wet ground, not temps as the snow melt takes a while in these low wet clayish soils.

So it is hard to know what to do the rare dry springs we get here?

First year I've ever planted corn in the teens of April. Donno if that was a good idea yet.... But all in all its been an early spring, the past two years we had snow on the ground in early May.

Oats is up, corn planters rolling like crazy.....

like mentioned, in the North, calendar Spring is just an
interesting date. Sometime in May is Spring.
