What battery or batteries do I need for a
farmall 560 haven't got the tractor home
yet I know it needs new battery

OE will be 2 6volt batteries of about 650cca. Group size escapes me but I think Group 1. If its a diesel do not scrimp and buy el cheapo batteries. Its been 36 years since I owned one.

I would not put two 6 volt in series. They only give trouble when hooked in series.

Put two 12 volt batteries in parallel if it's a diesel. If it's a gasoline you should be able to get by with one 12 volt.

If the battery supplier knows his/her product ask if the plates are glued on both ends. These typically last longer.
Don't ignore electrical specialty shops that are typically more expensive, mine recently bought out another shop that went out of business and had better prices than the el cheapo places. It is worth a call.

I don't understand how hooking like original in a 560 diesel , two six volt batteries in series is a problem. Still the neatest installation. You are only hooking the cells in series externally where a 12 volt battery is hooked in series internally. It is all about ampere hours of each individual cell no matter one or two batteries. I don't care if you put two 12 volts in parallel, or one large 12 volt alone but there is nothing wrong with two six volts.

people will argue but until youve actually done it then you realize two 12 are a hundred times better than two sixes

It was this way when I got it so the hold downs were all gone, wood blocks and tarp straps seems to hold it well.

Cranks the diesel well.
