my job today

Today was washing day. Washing day, started with my 1030 project tractor. That was a nasty job! That grease was cooked and dried on like nothing I've ever seen. Took a couple hours and that only got most of it. Then it was the house. It had a lot of dirt and moss growing on it. A big thanks to my youngest son Nick for helping! I wouldn't have gotten it done on my own. As you can see in the last pic, the little woman is very pleased too.

Here in the Northeast you used to rarely see the moss or algae on houses. Then about nine years ago we had a very wet summer and you now see it everywhere, and it is very tough to get it off. A chlorinated cleaner seems to work best, and it can get very tiring lugging everything around if you have to go up a ladder.

Don't feel bad Jon I need to be doing that when I hit my next vacation. I have never really seen it here until the past couple years myself. Thinking of using a small electric pressure washer making sure I go down from top to bottom with the bleach in it. Hopefully it will help it from coming back. I think mine comes mostly from a big water oak tree in my yard. Sadly it's the only shade tree I have so I won't be trimming it back unless I absolutely have to.

(quoted from post at 22:01:03 04/25/15) Comes off easy with a pressure washer.

never dreamed of trying to do it without a pressure washer, LOL. Rex, Be sure to start at bottom and go up, otherwise your cleaning solution can run down on the dry siding and you will likely see streaks after it dries. It is much more uniform starting at the bottom and working up.

What was in the jar she is holding? Would not be 'shine would it? After doing all that cleaning, I would need the 'shine or horse liniment.

For our house, 2 story, I mix bleach cleaner and water in the 15 gallon trailer sprayer. I start at the top and do about 6' wide, top to bottom. Then I move to the next section and my wife sprays the cleaner solution with the garden hose. It has been working for several years like that. Before I tried the sprayer, our project every summer or 2 was scrubbing the whole house by hand. I kept telling her there had to be a better way, something with "more power."
